8 Incredible Anime Series You Need To Watch In 2019

After a two-and-a-half year break, Mob Psycho 100 made its long awaited return to television screens. With such a long period in between the first and second season, there was a worry that the show would struggle to maintain the same quality it established in the first season. However, the writers actually surpassed expectations and created something that's possibly even better.

In case you're not already caught up, the show follows Shigeo Kageyama, a seemingly normal, yet socially awkward boy. While he comes across as inconspicuous, Shigeo is actually trying to suppress his powerful psychic abilities which are tied to his emotional state. So you have this remarkably calm, docile character who seems relaxed, but is in a constant battle to keep his emotions in check.

While that sounds awfully dramatic and angsty, the show is full of comedic moments, mixed with some of the best action sequences you'll ever see. The main laughs come from Shigeo's boss, Reigen Arataka, who is a con-man pretending to be a psychic. The adventures both characters get into are often times hilarious, but can have far deeper messages too.

Studio Bones have done a fantastic job of changing the art styles for specific moments, accentuating them for comedic and dramatic effect. Some anime can take you out of the moment when that happens, but they've managed to avoid that issue here.

It's an interesting hybrid of comedy, action and drama and well worth a marathon.
