8 Incredible Things Tom Baker Has Done Since Doctor Who

Tom Baker goes forth.

40 years ago this week, something amazing was happening on British television. Tom Baker's first story as Doctor Who, Robot, was drawing to the end of its four-week run and audiences were happily growing used to the actor's quirky take on the Time Lord. Tom's portrayal of the character was astonishing from the very start and four decades later many fans vehemently believe his tenure was the very best era in the programme's history. When Tom quit the role in 1981, he was far from done with performing (some might say he treats life itself as a performance). In addition to scene stealing turns in primetime dramas such as Life and Loves of a She-Devil, Strange and Miss Marple, Tom shone in a wide variety of cult and science fantasy films and TV programmes. How many other actors can claim to have ticked all of those boxes? If all that wasn't enough, Tom succeeded in becoming something of a comedy legend as well as a hugely entertaining writer. Now, with the passing of over a quarter of a century, fans can look back and marvel at the lengthy list of incredible achievements he has racked up since putting away his scarf. True to the man himself, many of these achievements are iconoclastic, screamingly funny and uniquely, irrepressibly "Tom Baker". Let's take a look at eight of the most incredible, mind-boggling feats Tom Baker has notched up over the course of the 25 years since Logopolis. First up, that curious link with James Bond...
