8 Reasons Batman Belongs On Television
1. Batman Should Be Saving People, Not The World
There's a moment in Justice League when Batman tells the Flash to "Save one," to set aside all the huge stakes and to focus on saving one person at a time. That's... really good advice coming from a Batman who drives a humongous crab-tank in the same movie.
This one line encapsulates the problem with Batman's movies - the stakes are always too high. The fate of Gotham, or in some cases the entire world, always hangs in the balance. And when the stakes get that high for the hero, they get kinda low for the audience. Bringing Batman back to television would allow for more personal stories, and saving people doesn't just mean the victims of villains, it also means the villains themselves.
In many of the best Batman stories, he sympathizes with his villains. He tries to understand them and help them. He believes in rehabilitation. Trying to understand the motives of a giant CGI alien invader seems like an impossible task, both for Batman and the audience. But trying to understand the motives of a disfigured district attorney, or helping a maniac in clown makeup, or trying to convince a cat-burglar to turn away from a life of crime, well those are stories nobody can bat an eye at.
