8 Reasons You're Allowed To Hate Daryl From The Walking Dead
5. He Always Defers To Rick
If there's any character on the Walking Dead that urges fans to shout "Grow some balls, man!" at the screen, it's Daryl Dixon. It's now been multiple seasons of Rick overpowering the rest of the group with his varying levels of Ricktatorship, and even in the harshest of these times, when Rick goes completely berserk with power, no one steps up to question his authority. Not...even...Daryl. Not Daryl, the boy scout. Not Daryl, the expert tracker. Not Daryl, the guy with a nearly flawless record when it comes to his decision-making skills. From a narrative standpoint, the guy may not be as obvious of a leader as Rick (who is used to wielding this kind of power from his days as a deputy sheriff), but Daryl's ideas are consistently helpful. He's also proven himself a worthy fill-in (for an episode or two in Season 3) when Rick is overwhelmed with the death of his wife, and he isn't half as reckless as the majority of these boneheads tend to be. ...Oh wait, so he is an obvious leader. Why doesn't he take over those duties again?
