8 Reasons You're Allowed To Hate Daryl From The Walking Dead
3. He's Become More Of A Habit Than Anything
When you really stop to think about it, there hasn't been a new story arc for Daryl in quite some time. Sure, he gets involved with the story in big ways every now and again, but it's never anything different enough to be truly exciting. Daryl is stuck in a funk that relies on this very simple formula: Love, lose, repeat. It's how we were introduced to the character in the first season, when he's told that his brother was left to die in a zombie attack. It happens again in Season 3 when Merle is discovered to be alive, but ultimately has to be put down by Daryl once the Governor actually kills him and he turns into a walker. And it happens with Carol once she's excised from the group in Season 4 (just as it happened with Carol's daughter in Season 2), and again in Season 5 with the loss of Beth. There are no new storylines for Daryl, and he seems to be hanging around simply because the fans are so rabidly devotional to this badass hunter that, as previously mentioned, it practically makes him untouchable. So I guess we're all stuck on this rollercoaster until someone finally works up the gumption to shut it down.
