8 Most Ridiculously Insulting Ad Campaigns

1. Groupon Mocks Free Tibet Cause

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pOwJOcp-Mxk Going back to the idea that advertising is not art, we direct you to this Super Bowl Ad from 2011, which attempts some ill-advised dark humor about a subject that is far too bleak to be taken lightly during a f--king Groupon commercial. But Groupon tried to take the subversive route, doing the equivalent of putting blackface on Robert Downey, Jr. for Tropic Thunder, with a much shoddier result. A coupon company insulted an entire race of people (and angering anyone with even two-tenths of a soul) by shrugging off that whole "national independence" controversy by cracking lame jokes about how we can experience their culture through the unbelievable discounts that Groupon offers on Tibetan food. Hey, advertisers, you only have 30 to 60 seconds to make your point. That doesn't give you much leeway in the context department. Don't spend half of that time trying to make a joke about something that will make 75 percent of us hate you.
