8 Silly TV Plot Conveniences Made Possible By Utterly Stupid Writing

3. Wishing Really Hard - Doctor Who

Doctor Who really is ripe with stupid writing, and who are we not to take advantage of that? Once more we're talking about the death of the Doctor, but this time from a little earlier, when the titular character sacrificed his own life in order to stop the entire Universe plopping out of existence. The series finales had been gradually escalating for years, going from the Earth being threatened with destruction, then the galaxy, then the universe, and finally the entirety of space and time. Cracks in the fabric of reality threaten to delete everything that ever had or will happen, with the only way to stop it being for the Doctor to kill himself and remove himself from the timeline because reasons. Consequently, nobody alive is able to remember the Doctor due to him being erased from their minds, meaning there can never be a way for someone to clone him or bring him back to life. Post his deletion from time, companion Amy Pond is teleported to a wedding (her own), which she'd kept being put off due to adventures with the Doctor. Now here comes the problem, and it's a doozy. Even though we are told moments before it would be impossible for anyone to remember the Doctor, Amy gets distracted by a shiny thing at her wedding and is instantly reminded of him. Then, with the Doctor held firmly in her minds eye, she brings him back to existence by closing her eyes and wishing really hard. That, dear readers, is quite literally what happens.
