8 Spooky Predictions Ricky Gervais Got Right In Extras

4. Clive Owen Would Play One Of The World's Greatest Writers

The Prediction: Clive Owen - or at least a particularly nasty version of himself - appears as Lord Byron - one of the greatest, most notorious writers of all time, known for his anger - in a lauded biopic, which gets Andy jealous of his great rival's success, and simultaneously ends Maggie's career when she is humiliated on set.

In Real Life: Close to six years later, Owen would appear in another couple-led biopic of one of the greatest and most notorious writers of all time, who was known for his anger - Ernest Hemingway, in Hemingway And Gelhorn, opposite Nicole Kidman. Both writers were known for mental illness - Hemingway's culminating in his suicide, and Byron being suspected of being bi-polar; both were known for their temperament, and both had storied military histories.

And crucially of course, both were played by Clive Owen. And if that wasn't enough, the same year that Owen appeared in Extras, he also played a character called Salinger.
