1. DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Needs Choose And Develop Its Main Characters
One of the most difficult things about group or team-based films is making viewers care about the characters as individuals. It's one of the weaknesses of the Avengers films (Avengers Assemble did it quite well, but Age Of Ultron failed to balance all of its characters in a meaningful way). DC's Legends Of Tomorrow, then, has a couple advantages. It's a television series, which means it has much more time to work with. If the show wants to succeed, it needs to be patient. For a start, the plot involves time travel, which is something of a hard sell for a mainstream series, despite the fact there are superheroes involved. Time travel can often come across as contrived and a bit Deus Ex Machina, so it needs to be careful not to fall into that particular trap. As mentioned, the show has an absolutely huge main cast of superheroes. Firestorm, The Atom, White Canary, Heat Wave, Captain Cold...and that's genuinely just a few. If the show is to be any good, it needs to know who its main characters are and stick with them tightly, or else the whole show will just become a muddled mess. Worse still, rather than care about every character, viewers will care about none.
