We didnt necessarily want Eric to end up with Sookie, but we did want him to end up with someone, even if it was his vampire daughter Pam. Eric showed immense maturity for a vampire in that he didnt just want to drink Sookies blood; no, he wanted a relationship with her. Season seven revealed that Eric had likewise felt an attraction to Sylvie, shown through a series of flashbacks. So why not have had a last minute appearance from Sylvie, showing that somehow she had been turned vampire? Yes, it would have meant that fans had to stretch their powers of belief once again, but that is better than Eric ending up bitter and alone. His parting shot showed him residing over his dominion of Fangtasia once more, but after seven years he deserved so much more than simply reverting back to how we first met him. Why couldnt Eric and Pam had ended up together? Pam loved Eric more than that of a father figure, its clear to see. In the parameters of True Blood that form of incestuous relationship isnt beyond the realms of possibility; it is, in fact, not incestuous at all. Once Tara met the true death Pam could have found solace in Erics arms. We saw them sleeping together when Pam was human anyway, so those feelings could have manifested again after 100 years together. Anything is better than Eric ending up alone.
