8 True Blood Characters Who Deserved A Better Ending
5. Bill
Bills descent into suicide was believable given the flashbacks fans were shown in the final season, but we still expected a last minute reprieve. Why couldnt Bill have somehow turned human, or better still, some residual power from his god-like incarnation of Lilith could have made it possible for him to actually glamour Sookie into forgetting him. Anything is better than making the woman you love impale you with a stake. Bills death was a long time coming for many fans, but it was harrowing to watch nevertheless. If we accept that Bill had to die, and that he deserved that ending, what we simply cannot accept is that Sookie had to be the one to kill him. First Bill selfishly asks Sookie to give up her fairy powers to burn him, and then when she changes her mind he doesnt stop her from straddling him and stabbing him in the heart. Any other character would have been better than Sookie. Eric could have finally gotten his own back; Alcide could have risen from the grave and possessed him; Jessica could have turned on her father and murdered him. Anything other than letting Sookie deliver the killer blow. Yes, she would then have been freed from his darkness and allowed to move on, but surely she would be carrying that guilt around with her for the rest of her human life? Any normal person would have anyway.
