8 TV Shows That Would Have Been Great As One-Season Wonders

5. How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother Cast How I Met Your Mother 791248 1280 10241 E1275324587267 I love this show but even I have to admit it's become less about Ted's search for his future wife and more about his string of crazy relationships and drink-fuelled shenanigans over eight years. Not appropriate conversation for you children! I can't imagine sitting down with my children to tell every detail of my years at college and university before I met their mother! While it's great to have a clear direction for the show in its final season, there has been a sense that it has meandered along in recent years with love interests like Zoe not having quite same sparkle as Stella or Victoria. In fact, last season the show returned to that infamous first 'potential mother' and it showed that no one had had quite the same chemistry with Ted as she. In truth, How I Met Your Mother might have benefited from shaving a year or two off its run. But what if it had only one season, with the original ended as planned should it have not been picked up after its original thirteen episode order? Well we would have has thirteen magnificent episodes with the likes of Okay Awesome, The Slutty Pumpkin and The Pineapple Incident. Victoria would have been revealed as the mother at the wedding and while Barney or Robin might not have had the full well-rounded story they have now, there would have been a sense of closure to the whole series. Because truth be told, all the later classics aside, was How I Met Your Mother ever funnier than it was in season one?
