Valerie Harper is best known for playing Rhoda on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and, fittingly, Rhoda, but that was not the end of her career. In the mid-80s, she was given a new show to star on, called Valerie, where she played Valerie Hogan, the mom of a family trying to keep things together and such. Then, after two seasons, Harper started holding out for more money, and an ugly fight, and a lawsuit, unfolded. During this time, the creators of the show said enough was enough, and killed off Harpers character. Of course, since she was the titular character, that was kind of an issue. Still, they pressed on. They brought on Sandy Duncan to be the new star, and also changed the title to Valeries Family: The Hogans. Then, they went with The Hogan Family, to get Harpers name off the show completely. It ran for six seasons total, on two networks, with three different titles. Thats a lot for one show.
