8 Unanswered Questions From Stranger Things Season 3

The biggest unanswered question from Stranger Things was posed as soon as the post-credits scene aired. The seemingly final scene of the third season was a heartbreaking farewell to Hopper, his voiceover letter to adopted daughter Eleven a touching goodbye. Hopper appeared to have sacrificed himself in order for Joyce to close the gate to the Upside Down, disintegrating along with the people in hazmat suits below.

Though the characters were assured by Alexei that the destruction of the machine would vaporise anybody standing within its vicinity, there is still a possibility that Hopper somehow survived. The post-credits scene shows a Russian prisoner being fed alive to a captured demogorgon - after his anonymous cell mate "The American" is passed over.

This could mean that Hopper is, in fact, alive and being held prisoner in a Russian camp. He could have jumped into the Upside Down at the last moment and mysteriously found his way to Kamatchka, or have found some other unfathomable way to survive.

Now that Eleven has lost her powers, it seems as if there is no way to know as she cannot locate him. If El does manage to regain her abilities and search for her adopted father, then Hopper might not be gone forever.
