8 Underrated DC Superheroes Who Desperately Deserve The Netflix Treatment
7. Secret Six
Though it may not have looked it, the formula behind Suicide Squad has been successful on occasion. No, really, the idea of pairing villains with other villains and have them engage in anti-hero type stuff works, as the Dirty Dozen illustrated so eloquently back in 1967.
It's an idea that DC haven't just explored with Task Force X though. In fact, Gail Simone (who had a stellar run on Birds of Prey, among other things) applied the same formula to the Secret Six, a group initially founded to oppose Lex Luthor's Secret Society of Super Villains. Later, Simone would bring together a team comprising of Catman, Bane, Ragdoll, Scandal Savage and one of Darkseid's Parademons to engage in a variety of different villain-themed missions. The best thing about the series, however, was the dynamic shared between all of the team's members; Catman in particular was a definite highlight.
If DC were still looking to explore the more villainous elements of their universe on the silver screen, then Secret Six has to be the ideal candidate. Not only does it have that Suicide Squad-esque dynamic going on, it also has the quality source material to back it up.
And Catman. We can't forget Catman.
