You don't have to be part of the Doctor Who fandom to know that it's one of the most devoted and passionate fandoms there is (yes - even more passionate than the 'Twihards'!). Whether a fan has been following the Time Lord's adventures since 1963, joined the party when he returned to our screens in 2005, or somewhere in between, every devotee of the Doctor is quite rightly extremely protective over that grand old man from time and space.
