9 Best 9th Doctor Episodes

2. Rose

Of course the first episode is on here, why wouldn't it be?

Whovians already know what a tightrope act the first episode of any new Doctor era is, but try being the first new Doctor Who content in over a decade! If this first episode didn't work, then no one would tune into the rest of the season, and Doctor Who would likely have been be dead forever. Davies and his team NEEDED to get this one right, right out of the gate. While it's definitely been surpassed by later Doctor's first episodes, Rose still remains a stone cold classic.

Not only is it a really good episode in and of itself, with a deep lore cut with the mannequin people as villains, but focusing on Rose and her outsider perspective on The Doctor is both a great jumping on point for new fans to the weird world of Doctor Who, as well as a good preview of the more companion focused storytelling that would define every era after this until Chibnall took the reigns.

It was a rocky road getting Doctor Who back off the ground after so long, but Rose was the jumper cable needed to get it all working like new again.
