9 Moments That Prove Sansa Stark Is Game Of Thrones' Unluckiest Character
7. Off With Her Ned
Sansa travels to Winterfell with Arya and her father, after he accepts Roberts offer to become Hand of the King. When Ned and Robert have a disagreement over a plot to kill Daenerys Targaryen, the former resigns from his position and tells his daughters that they will all be going back to Winterfell, and that Sansas marriage to Joffrey is off. During her protests she insists that Joffrey is nothing like his father, which in turn sets Ned on the path to realising that Joffrey is the product of Jaime and Cerseis incestuous relationship. When Robert dies during a hunting accident, Ned makes an effort to reveal to everyone the truth about Joffreys parentage in order to prevent him from becoming King, but is ultimately arrested and sentenced to death. Sansa, meanwhile, is taken into custody and pleads mercy for her father. Joffrey promises her he will be merciful if Ned confesses his crimes, which he does on the execution stage. The would-be King changes his mind and goes through with the execution anyway, with a horrified Sansa unable to do anything about it. If only shed gone quietly back to Winterfell
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
