8. The Secret Fan
There's something about Doctor Who that makes it hard to admit that you watch it. Most of its fans are out and proud about their undying devotion to TV's favourite Time Lord while for others it's generally something they like to keep to themselves. As such, the "secret fan" is basically one who watches it without telling anyone. What they get up to every Saturday night is their little secret and they generally enjoy it all the more because of it which is fair enough. But why would somebody want to keep their love for the Doctor under wraps? Maybe it's something to do with the fact that it's "geeky" and therefore frowned upon in general society. Over recent years the show has become much more accepted within mainstream society but there's still some people, for whatever reason, who choose to remain closeted about their obsession. They're not hurting anyone by keeping it to themselves, of course, and the Doctor Who fandom is waiting with open arms to welcome them as and when they choose to make their admiration known. A secret fan will probably get defensive if you bring up Doctor Who in conversation. "I've never watched that before in my life," they'll say as they discreetly shove their TARDIS keyring into their pocket. You're not fooling us! Besides, it's a widely known scientific fact that every single person in the world watches Doctor Who so you've got nothing to be ashamed of. Seriously. It's true.
