9 Reasons To Be Hyped For Star Trek Discovery

5. The Network Aren’t Rushing It

There's nothing worse than a rushed TV series, where the characters feel like half-drawn sketches, the effects look rubbish and the story lacks oomph. Plus, a rushed production can cause a weak debut, leading to a massive ratings drop for week two.

CBS are willing to take their time and make sure Discovery becomes the best TV show it can, rather than rushing out a half-baked product. Network reps recently told The Hollywood Reporter that they "will be flexible on a launch date if it's best for the show", because Discovery "is an ambitious project" and "it's more important to do this right than to do it fast".

This means that Discovery is going into production (as soon as next week, apparently) without a firm air date locked down. This takes some of the pressure off, allowing the cast and crew to make the best series possible instead of rushing to hit a deadline.
