9 Star Trek: The Animated Series Aliens That Should Appear In Live Action

6. Em/3/Green’s Species

Em/3/Green was introduced in The Jihad as part of a team brought together to retrieve an alien religious relic. Resembling a large, sad-eyed beetle, he was a thief and expert lockpick with a strong a knack for working with machines and electronic circuitry.

During the course of the adventure, he was depicted as physically weak and risk-adverse to the point of cowardice. When exhaustion weakened his resolve, his teammate, the reptilian Sord, carried him to the temple holding the relic. Em expertly overcame the temple's booby-trapped locks.

The novel series Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers, which follows the adventures of rapid-response team, named Em/3/Green's species the Nasat. It features a Nasat engineer, P8 Blue.

Incorporating a similar character into a live action series would provide a contrast with other Starfleet engineers such as Montgomery Scott, Geordi LaForge, Miles O'Brien, and B'Elanna Torres, who mixed engineering skill and knowledge with physical courage. Depicting this character struggling with his natural cowardice while on life-threatening missions would provide a rich source of drama.

While attempts at depicting a believable insectoid in Star Trek: Enterprise's Xindi story arc proved less than stellar, new effects technology should make depicting an insectoid much less problematic.
