9 Things You Didn't Know About Joan Rivers

5. She Was Addicted To Plastic Surgery

€œI€™ve had so much plastic surgery that when I die they will donate my body to Tupperware!€ Work wasn€™t the only thing for which Rivers had an unquenchable thirst €“ she also couldn€™t resist the surgeon€™s knife. The comedienne probably made more €“ and more unpleasant €“ jokes about Michael Jackson than anyone else has ever dared, but her penchant for plastic surgery rivalled that of the late singer. Rivers had her first procedure €“ an eye lift €“ in 1965, aged just 32, and she would continue to make regular appointments for almost 50 years. She claimed to have had over 700 surgical procedures, and although it wasn€™t always entirely clear when Rivers was joking, the change in her appearance over the years was visible to say the least. As you would expect, she also incorporated this obsession into her stage act and made constant references to her operations, claiming €œMy face has been tucked in more times than a bedsheet at the Holiday Inn,€ and opining that €œThe only way I can get a man to touch me at this age is plastic surgery.€ She also made several appearances as herself on acclaimed TV drama series Nip/Tuck. Rivers evidently felt the pressure of being in the public eye and the foremost female comedian of her age, but never failed to see the funny side of her own foibles.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
