9. "Just One More Episode..."
Here's one we're all guilty of. It's 4am, you're emotionally and psychically exhausted and you know that in a few short hours, your alarm clock will go off (it's the sound of the TARDIS materialising, naturally!) to signal another
Groundhog Day of school/work/cataloging your Dalek action figure collection by success rate of weapon. So why can't you pull yourself away from watching
Doctor Who?! What's worse, you
know you have to stop soon but that only makes it even more difficult to admit defeat. And when the birds start tweeting, there's no turning back. "One more episode," you tell yourself, as you settle down to watch
Utopia. "Just one more episode, then I'll call it a night..." Rookie mistake. Because then the Master returns as Derek Jacobi, who then regenerates into John Simm, and you know you're going to see it through to the bitter end. Even though you've already seen it a billion times before. It's a bit like when Martha Jones first stepped aboard the TARDIS for "just one trip" which soon escalated into a billion more. Like Martha at the end of Series 3, you'll end your overnight
Doctor Who marathon feeling defeated, traumatised and with an overriding sense of unrequited love.
Totally worth it.
