9 Upcoming 2016 TV Shows That Are Already Doomed To Fail

3. 11.22.63

Based on the book 11/23/63 by famed horror writer Stephen King, 11.22.63 is set to premiere in February 2016. It tells the story of a teacher who mistakenly travels back in time to 1958 (how does one mistakenly travel back in time? Just one of the show's many initial hurdles) and then decides hey, what the hell, might as well stop JFK from being assassinated while I'm here. You might be thinking €œStephen King is a great writer, what can go wrong?€ but you're likely forgetting the fact that Stephen King television adaptations are historically pretty bad. Sure, there have been a few decent ones, but they're generally the kind of story that comes across as quite cheesy on screen. The recent CBS adaptation of Under The Dome started strong, but quickly went extremely down in hill both in quality and ratings, leading the show to be cancelled. On top of that, there's been a bit of internal turbulence regarding the show's creation. Initially there was going to be a film adaptation of the book, with Jonathan Demme attached to write, produce and direct the project. Demme left, however, after arguments with King over what should be included in the script. King might be a great novelist, but that doesn't mean he's a great television writer.
