5. Sneaky Pete
I initially included Sneaky Pete in a
list of new shows you needed to watch this fall, back when it had been rejected by CBS, in the hope that it would get picked up somewhere. Now that somewhere is Amazon, who will be showing the pilot with a view to a full series order. Giovanni Ribisi - who you'll recognise from pretty much everything ever, even if you don't know the name - gets the chance to star, as he plays a con-man who upon getting out of prison immediately steals the identity of his cellmate, Pete. He works his way into Pete's family, and ends up working in their bail bond business, faced with taking down criminals much worse than himself. Aside from Ribisi, the major names for this show are those behind the scenes: House creator David Cross, and Heisenberg himself Bryan Cranston. The pilot will be released on August 7, and from there it'll be decided whether any more are made. And given the talent behind and in-front of the camera, this one has a good chance of making the grade, and CBS may well regret ever saying no to it.
