So, as it turns out, David Schwimmer and Jennifer Anniston had a thing for each other away from Friends, but they never actually became an item. Sorry, Friends fans.

The pair confirmed as such while chatting to host James Corden, stating that each of them was always in a relationship, and so they never got a chance to properly explore their feelings for each other off-screen. It did, however, contribute to their performances as Ross and Rachel, as it meant they could use this passion and love they had for one another, and put it into their characters, rather than their real-life selves.

Take their first kiss as a prime example. Going down in season two's The One Where Ross Finds Out, the moment is one of Friends' most iconic. From the argument beforehand to Rachel being unable to open the doors of Central Perk to Ross lovingly grabbing Rachel as they kissed, everything about this was perfectly beautiful.

Now, imagine if they had gotten together behind the scenes. Would this kiss have been as impactful? Perhaps not. They're both fabulous actors, so it wouldn't have made that much of a difference, however, you still have to wonder how different things would have been for both David and Jennifer, as well as Ross and Rachel.

Still, they were definitely on a break. No ifs, no buts. Except if you ask Matt LeBlanc.
