9 Ups & 3 Downs From Friends: The Reunion

1. The One With James Corden

Of the American late-night talk show hosts, there isn't really a single one who isn't hated by at least a small minority. James Corden, however, tops that list. The guy isn't liked, filled the special with tiresome jabber, and likely only got the gig because Ben Winston - one of the reunion's executive producers - also works on Corden's talk show.

Whoever thought that a reunion between the core six members of one of the world's most beloved shows ever needs to take a look at the moments where it's those six people chatting amongst each other. That is what saved the special from being a complete wreck. Had it been just under two hours of Corden's dull interview, it would have legitimately destroyed something that fans had waited close to two decades for.

At one point, James joked about 'keeping it positive' when an in-person fan asked about the cast's dislikes when filming. Considering the genuine behind the scenes struggles faced by Matthew Perry throughout the series, this was immensely ill-timed.

In short, Corden as a host both wasn't needed and wasn't well-received. Without his hosting, though, there likely wouldn't have been a reunion special due to his production company handling the whole thing. A small price to pay for something in universal demand.

How dare he switch off the iconic water fountain, though.
