Although Watchers on the Wall was full of epic action on a massive scale, it was in one of the quieter moments that it really hit hardest. Jon, in the midst of the battle, turns and finds himself faced with Ygritte, the wildling woman he loved and betrayed. Their brief exchange of looks is enough to give pause to her bow, and that hesitation costs Ygritte her life. The fatal arrow comes not from Jon but from Olly, whose further was murdered by the red-haired wildling. She dies in Jons arms, after telling him they should never have left the cave, and wishes they had stayed there forever. Its a powerful character moment in big episode, taking away from fans the prospect of Ygritte and Jon ever ending up together. He knew nothing, and clearly the audience didnt either.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
