5. The Mother Of Dragons

As The Dance of Dragons approached its climax, Daenerys found herself standing in Daznak€™s Pit, accompanied by Tyrion, Jorah, Daario, Missandei and a few Unsullied, and surrounded by Sons of the Harpy. The situation looked dire, and she seemed to be accepting of her fate. That discounts the fact that Daenerys isn't just anyone, but the Mother of Dragons. There€™s a sound from the skies, and down flies the biggest of her children, Drogon, to save the day. He takes out swathes of the Harpies with fire, and tears a few in half for good measure, but then appears to be wounded by some of their spears. Dany approaches him and, although he€™s initially resistant, he does allow her to first stroke his face, and then climb onto his back. After that, the pair fly up and away from Meereen and the slaughter of the fighting pit. It€™s a scene that the show has been building to ever since season 1, when she entered the funeral pyre with a trio of eggs, and emerged with three baby dragons. The effects may not quite have been up to the usual standard, but they were still impressive for a TV show budget - especially once that€™s just paid for the Battle of Hardhome - and more importantly it meant audiences finally got to see Daenerys ride on one of her dragons.
