Did a grown man almost cry just from seeing an old bloke onscreen tonight, before the old bloke even opened his mouth to speak? Yes.

But that’s a testament to the mark that the late Bernard Cribbins made on a generation of people, as he has throughout his storied career – a man so wholesome that his presence alone is enough to trigger a wave of emotion.

We’ve learned from Russell’s Instagram posts that sadly this was the only footage the crew managed to film for Wilf before Cribbins’ passing and that he won’t be appearing next week, but the fact that we were able to see him one last time for this short but sweet scene is a wonderful blessing, and a fitting treat for the 60th.

We think there was something about the world ending as well, and there might have been a plane crash too, but we weren’t really paying attention, because Wilf was there – his reaction to seeing the Doctor again is all we could have wanted. We’re sure this was by design, but time seemed to stop for this scene.

Rest in peace BC, and thanks for the memories.
