A Series Of Unfortunate Events Season 2: 10 Miserable Fan Theories You Don't Want To See

1. The Sugar Bowl

"...I can't seem to find the sugar bowl."

On the face of it, that's a very casual (if obscure) throwaway line, but to fans of the books it carries a much deeper meaning, as it pretty much confirms that the mysteries of the sugar bowl - aka the Vessel For Disaccharides - will be coming to the show.

While it may not have sparked to life in the show just yet, there's not much in A Series Of Unfortunate Events that inspires as much discussion and theorising as the sugar bowl, which various characters steal over the course of the series for a variety of reasons no one fully understands. Its contents is a mystery, as is its importance, except for the fact that it could well hold the key to a lot of what we see with Lemony Snicket and the V.F.D. Since it's been mentioned in the show (earlier than it is in the books too), it means those fan theories (of which there are many) are now in play.

Some believe it contains evidence that would incriminate Count Olaf; others that it would exonerate Lemony Snicket. There are suggestions it contains a list of V.F.D. members, that it was used in some way for spying, or even that it hides a truly deadly weapon. Seeing this brought to life is going to be a lot of fun.
