Agents Of SHIELD: 8 Ways It Sets Up Marvel's Inhumans

7. The Afterlife

The Afterlife is the place Skye is taken to after she develops her powers, a safe community for fellow Inhumans led by her mother Jiaying.

This helped to really broaden the scope for the superhumans on the show, as it went beyond just being Skye to reveal that there were a number of them out there. Raina€™s powers have already been revealed, as she is able to see the future, although in her case she goes through a very physical transformation as well with thorns protruding from her face.

It introduced the idea that some Inhumans could look just like normal humans, while others will be noticeably different, and showcased a wide-range of powers.

Aside from Raina, Skye€™s mother can slow the ageing process and heal quickly by stealing the energy of others, Alisha can multiply herself, Lincoln generates electromagnetic waves, and Gordon - who like Raina has a physical deformity - is able to teleport.

These are all very much in the realm of superpowers the show had largely stayed away from up until this point. It changes the game for the future of the show, but also sets the bar for the movie: some of these are fairly impressive, but still low-level Inhumans; the film is going to have to make sure it tops them.
