There are a few name drops to the wider MCU in the episode, and as ever with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. they're a little on-the-nose, such as a reference to Pym technology. However, while they may make it obvious, there was one that was pretty pertinent.

"The world's been a little twitchy since Sokovia fell out of the sky." A reference to the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, but one that makes you wonder about feelings towards superheroes in general. Although the Avengers did their best to limit civilian casualties, clearly the destruction, following on from the Battle of New York, are leaving a sour taste in people's mouths, which is compounded when the President (William Sadler reprising his Iron Man 3 role) makes an appearance to talk about the alien threat.

Is this a sign that the world is turning against superheroes, and could this be the show's way of leading into Captain America: Civil War?
