Agents Of SHIELD Season 3: 10 Questions We're Asking After Laws Of Nature

8. How Are S.H.I.E.L.D. Still Getting Funding?

S.H.I.E.L.D. are, for all intents and purposes, totally done with. After the reveal of Hydra, the trust in the organisation was gone, and they have officially been disbanded. Of course we know that isn't the case and they're still operating in the shadows, and it's that last part that stands out.

They're in the shadows, no one is really supposed to know about them, and they no longer have the backing of the government nor Tony Stark and the Avengers. That's fine, they can still do their jobs, only... who is funding them?

As seen in this episode they have a brand new jet, Zephyr One, and Coulson is extremely pleased with his shiny new toy, but something like that doesn't come cheap. Where did they get the money? Nick Fury has a lot of resources, but with him largely underground now as well it's difficult to imagine him pulling off something of that magnitude. Is it simply Fury, something we're just meant to overlook, or someone else entirely?
