Hong Kong native and pyrokinetic magician Chan Ho Yin isnt the first Marvel character to go by the pseudonym Scorch. Hell, hes not even the second: plenty of flame-powered individuals have gone by that somewhat less than impressive name, including Tommy Ng, a mutant with similar fire-related abilities and the closest analogue to Chan, except without the whole mutant gene thing (Chan Ho Yin just seemed to develop his powers spontaneously shortly before being added to S.H.I.E.L.D.s Index and given an official handler). Scorch comes to a somewhat embarrassing end shortly after his debut in the only episode in which Chan appears, The Girl In The Flower Dress. Maybe if hed been given a punchier name he might have lasted a tad longer.
