Ahsoka Episode 2 Review - 5 Ups & 2 Downs

5. Up - Hera & Huyang Step Up

Ahsoka Tano
Lucasfilm

In the first episode of Ahsoka, it was the titular character’s relationship with Sabine Wren that was the focal point for much of the hour. Other characters were introduced of course, but as this was just the first episode they essentially showed their faces and were then left for later.

One such character was Hera. The Twi’lek was such an important part of Rebels, something that didn’t really translate in episode one, but she started to show herself more in the second episode. With Sabine on the sidelines thanks to her injury, it was General Syndulla at Ahsoka's side on Corellia.

Not only did she show her nurturing side when speaking as something of a mother figure to Sabine, she was a badass General who showed Myn Weaver who was boss, and she also demonstrated how talented she and Chop were in the air. Hopefully, there is much more of Hera to come, and she doesn’t fall by the wayside with the ultimate introduction of Ezra and Thrawn. Her son hasn’t even come into things yet.

Another character whose presence was felt more in episode two was David Tennant’s Huyang. The droid has known Jedi Knights for centuries and would have some incredible stories to tell, but for now we can live with his frank and hilarious honesty with Sabine. It was him more than anything that pushed her to do what she did next.
