Ahsoka Episode 2 Review - 5 Ups & 2 Downs

3. Up - An Homage To Kanan Jarrus

Ahsoka Tano

Sabine was a young woman when she was running with the Ghost crew, with a lot of influences as to who she was going to be as a person. Hera and Ahsoka were both incredibly strong in this regard, as was Ezra as something of a brother figure, but there was one more Jedi who treated her like a daughter.

Kanan Jarrus likely won’t appear in this series, thanks firstly to him sacrificing himself towards the end of Rebels’ fourth season, but also because of Freddie Prinze Jr.’s views on the character’s legacy. However, that doesn’t mean that the Jedi’s presence won’t be felt throughout the series.

There is certain to be some reference to him from Hera at some point, as he was the love of her life and father of her son, but Sabine seemed to pay homage to him when she chopped off her hair. This is exactly what Kanan did just before launching into the fight that saw him make the ultimate sacrifice.

She took up the same position as Jarrus before slicing off her locks in the same way he did. There were even some similarities in the way they held the knife, almost ritualistically. There is no way this was an accident.
