Ahsoka Episode 2 Review - 5 Ups & 2 Downs

1. Up - Revisiting Rebels' Final Scene

As if you needed any more confirmation that Ahsoka is actually a continuation of Rebels rather than its own series, look no further than the moment after Sabine donned her Mandalorian armour. This revisited Rebels in the most literal way yet.

The final moments of the very last episode of Star Wars Rebels were voiced over by Sabine as she essentially summed up everyone’s endings. She walked over to the mural of the Ghost crew, stroked Ezra’s cheek, and turned around to see Ahsoka waiting for her.

Yes, this scene was recreated beat for beat in the second episode of Ahsoka, and it was done very cleverly. Though no one would have known it at the time, that scene came after Ahsoka and Sabine had already split as Master and Apprentice, and seeing it again shot for shot was a very emotional thing.

It can be dangerous to recreate previous scenes to the letter, as there is always the potential to be called out for unoriginality, or copying for the sake of copying. This was not the case here however, as seeing such a scene from Rebels in live-action was like a dream come true for fans of the animated show.
