3. Palladium Heist
While making their way to the 25th floor, John discovers that the hostage situation is merely a distraction, meant to draw attention from the palladium heist happening across the street. Since the police have jammed all communications within a few blocks, the alarm going off in that building fails to alert the authorities. Palladium is a pretty rare element, and I had to look it up just to make sure that the writers didn't make it up for the show. Over half the supply of palladium is used in catalytic converters, and the other half goes into electronics, dentistry, medicine, jewelry, groundwater treatment, and hydrogen purification. It seems a bit of an odd element for the writers to choose, which makes me wonder if the heist was for more than just money. If it was, why not call it a bank heist? Or why not have them steal a more common element like gold or silver? I may be thinking too much into this, but it may be worth keeping our eyes and ears open for the element to show up again.
