3. The Spectacular Action Sequences

Those aforementioned incredible production values are put to fantastic use during the show's litany of intense, beautifully brutal action sequences.

Most episodes feature at least a set-piece or two, making the most of the excellent sets, costumes and visual effects to generate action that would feel just as at home in the cinema as on your TV screen.

While most TV shows settle into generic patterns with their action sequences, recycling the same camera set-ups over and over again in order to save time and cut costs, it always feels dynamic and diverse here, aided by some fantastic sound work in particular, especially for the punchy gunshot effects.
