Amazon's Hanna: 10 Questions Season 2 Needs To Answer

1. What Is The Wilberforce Facility?

Two mysteries surround the Wilberforce facility mentioned at the end of the season finale: its location and its purpose.

First, the facility's possible location could have major implications for the direction that the series takes in Season 2. The announcement that the Utrax trainees will be landing at "airbase 910" may refer to the 910th Airlift Wing in Ohio, a state that also happens to be home to a census-designated community by the name of Wilberforce. It's not the only Wilberforce in the world, but enough of the trainees' cultural instruction has focused on American history and geography that a move to American soil would make sense.

On the other hand, there's no telling whether they'll actually have a chance to make use of this education, as the facility's purpose remains unknown. The subjects are told that they'll continue their training once they arrive, but Utrax just suffered a major security breach. The last time that happened (and on a much smaller scale), Utrax responded by disposing of all evidence. The trainees may very well be on their way to an execution.

The name seems meaningful either way. William Wilberforce was known for his efforts as an abolitionist. Should the facility be based in Ohio, it will not be far from Wilberforce University - a school that claims historical connections to the Underground Railroad. David Farr might easily have chosen the name of the facility to represent the freedom that subjects will gain after a Season 2 revolt.

A darker interpretation is that the subjects will be "freed" once their existence has been nullified. Amazon will have to pursue a second season if viewers are to learn the fates of these wretched experiments.
