Amazon's Hanna: 10 Questions Season 2 Needs To Answer
9. How Many Utrax Facilities Are There?
Most will have pondered this question following the end-season reveal that the Utrax trainees are to continue their training at another facility known as Wilberforce. Eagle-eyed viewers, however, may have asked this question much earlier.
When Sophie and Dan are looking at Hanna's file, they see Marissa Wiegler listed as the supervisor for Lab 05. It's possible that this indicates at least four other facilities operated by Utrax. On the other hand, it may simply be a laboratory within the larger Darabani facility. The room numbers on the dog labs are L-03 and L-04, and Erik does not appear to pass by any other rooms on his way to the nursery.
It is not clear, however, that these shots are meant to be continuous. Furthermore, the door behind him when he enters the nursery is labeled U-07. Many hallway numbering schemes would actually place him in Room 06, not 05.
Another possible indicator of additional Utrax facilities occurs when Wiegler reviews the termination order hidden beneath her floorboards. The letter specifically refers to a security breach at the Darabani facility, without once referencing Utrax as a whole. It also contains a line ordering contract workers to receive further instructions at "Central Office," which may indicate that Utrax was already large enough in 2003 to have its own headquarters outside of the CIA.
Utrax having its own central headquarters would explain why virtually nobody in the CIA proper has heard of it without direct involvement. We're still left with the question of how a contract worker for a secret organization is supposed to fill out a proper 1099, but tax fraud isn't really a priority on the list of Utrax's crimes.
