5. The Basic Premise Remains The Same
As mentioned previously, the basic outline of the plot for Preacher is about a man bestowed with powers who travels to find God, and that's something the TV show is following, as the official synopsis reads:
"Preacher is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between."
While some fans of the comics have already expressed disappointment at perceived changes, based on the trailers at least, Sam Caitlin did have this to say on how closely they'll be sticking to it:
"...The world of it, the comedy of it, the action of it, the characters of it all should feel like Preacher … for Preacher fans, if they haven’t seen something, just give us time, we’re going to get to all the great set-pieces and characters.”
