Now, this one is a tricky one - deciding whether to go with Kathy Bates' Oscar-worthy performance, or the "real butcher." Bates' Mary Agnes Winstead was a washed-up actress (who couldn't be further from Bates), obsessed with her own performance as The Butcher. However, for a real taste of The Butcher, the horror is only just beginning. It was only in Episode 7 that we met the truly evil spirit of Tomasyn White, portrayed by Susan Berger.

We may have just met the real White, but it looks like she is even more hell-bent on madness than Winstead. As the de-facto leader of the Roanoke tribe, White is responsible for the death of countless members of her own group, as well as all those who have dared cross the threshold since. We already know there will only be one survivor of the current season, so you can almost hear the "bludd" waiting to be spilled to consecrate the land again.
