American Horror Story: Apocalypse - 2 Ups & 5 Downs From ‘Fire And Reign’
1. The Fiona Goode Conversation
While Apocalypse has been the most enjoyable season of American Horror Story in quite some time, there has been one large disappointment, and that's the evident absence of Coven queen Fiona Goode. Of course, this is largely in part due to Jessica Lange no longer being a regular cast member on the show, but considering the fact that Murphy was able to convince the Emmy-winning actress into making an appearance as Constance Langdon, surely there was a possibility of having Lange return as the character everybody wanted to see?
While we might not get our wish, it was great to see Cordelia reminiscing about how abhorrent her mother was during the latest episode. The dynamic between the young woman and Fiona was one of Coven's best attributes, which is perhaps why her absence in Apocalypse is so damn noticeable.
The conversation ends with Myrtle confirming that Cordelia is nothing like her mother, while reinforcing how the young Supreme is more important to the fate of the world than Fiona ever was. While it's true that Cordelia is pretty remarkable, it's impossible to not theorise about what Fiona would've done had she found herself in this situation with Michael. The short answer is that Fiona wouldn't be in this situation in the first place, as she would've handled it long ago. She might've been a nightmare, but she was a lot more resourceful than Cordelia.
