In a show made up of remarkable character development, Sister Jude's might be the most impressive of all. Initially, as the head administrator of Briarcliff Manor, she was sadistic, cruelly prejudiced and degrading, acting as Asylum's main antagonist until bigger evils began to rear their heads.

By the end, she had gone through a major transformation and atoned for her sins in particularly moving fashion. Sister Jude - as played with typical perfection by Jessica Lange - was a fantastic villain, and her growth to compassionate human by the season's end only made her initial antagonism all the more horrible to see on re-watches.
