Few AHS characters have ever been as iconic and instantly terrifying than John Carroll Lynch's Twisty the Clown. Appearing throughout Freak Show, his signature mask, which hid a tragic deformity, and clown get-up made him the most spine-tingling addition to the otherwise inconsistent season.

Twisty was a serial killer who had once been an actual clown, who loved entertaining children but had been ruined by a vicious rumour and a failed suicide attempt. After that, he had given into his murderous impulses to become one of the show's most recognisable creations, and though he wasn't around for long, his cultural impact speaks for itself.
