American Horror Story: Ranking Every Season Finale From Worst To Best

Title: Afterbirth

Synopsis: Ben remains the only surviving member of the Harmon family as he tries to take his newborn child away from the evil of the Murder House. This spirits, and one very nosy neighbour, are determined to stop him. Can anyone ever live in the Murder House in peace?

A tragic flashback that the family relocated to the world's worst real estate as a way for Ben to repent his infidelities, meaning that if he had kept it in his pants, everyone would be living happy in Boston. More time hops and we were left with three different timelines, each with a grim end and a (nearly) no survivors idea that worked.

With the women ruling the roost of the show, Afterbirth gave Dylan McDermott his chance to shine as the leading man of the premiere season. A staged suicide by the evil spirits within the walls was a shocking, and depressing, end for the last member of the Harmons that really hammered home the horror of horror story.

There was some slight comedy interjection with ghostly Violet, Vivien, and Ben taking on the role of Beetlejuice to scare any newcomers away from an also grisly fate. In the end we came back to yet more murders and Jessica Lane's creepy smile as she turns to Michael the Antichrist to say, "Now what am I going to do with you?" A disturbing end to a powerful series which left the door open for the story to return. Hopefully we will be seeing Michael, Constance, or both in the Murder House/Coven crossover series that is coming (sometime).
