The return of the CIA means the return of their first big agent to appear in Archer. It just so happens that that CIA agent is named Slater, looks like Christian Slater, looks like Christian Slater, and basically is Christian Slater. In Archer Vice he appeared as a arms dealer who also dabbled in drug trafficking, accidentally shooting Archer with a bean bag gun and then referring to him as Rando for the rest of his appearances. Then it turns out he was an undercover spy all along! Slater's appearance in the last season was one of the strongest parts of what was a pretty strong season all around, and easily the actor's best performance for the better part of a decade (a decade that saw him appearing in such Oscar-worthy fare as Churchill: The Hollywood Years and video game adaptation Alone In The Dark). Slater will be the boss this time around, which'll put Malory in an interesting position. No pun intended. Or maybe intended, because the shackings up that happen in Archer are far from predictable. Slater will be the one calling the shots, sending Archer and the rest of the cast on missions. Apparently Slater got cast in the first place because he's a huge fan of the show, so having him back as a regular is gonna be hella fun.
