Archer: 5 Reasons It's The Best Animated Series On TV

4. Excellent Writing

Archer Lana Malory and Cyril It would take an article in itself to outline and explain each nuanced pop-culture, cult-culture, and cross-culture reference in Archer's first season alone. Some people do just do that. I, however, prefer to get drunk and laugh. Alright, fine - here's a few: P.G. Wodehouse, namesake of Archer's oft-belittled butler, being the author who created Jeeves; Krieger's sex-robot being named Fister Roboto; Herman Melville's Bartleby the Scrivener, and how Archer would "prefer not to"; consistent references to John Buchan's Greenmantle, which was the basis for Archer, as well as countless others that you need to watch the show to have the privilege of enjoying. Yeah, those were from the first season alone.
